Aluminium does fatigue!

I had a feeling that my rear rim on my commuter was no well.  This was confirmed yesterday on my ride home from work at 31km/hr I heard fateful POP.  Not a tube or tyre but the rim. These are Rolf Vector rims that have served me faithfully through sun and rain for a year.  I got them secondhand off my good friend and bike mechanic - thanks Greg.  Sooo time to rebuild some Shimano 600 hubs that I retrived from a crash last year.  Mavic Open Pros sound good.  I am now waiting on some wheel building advice from the Diesel himself. 

Mind you I was still 19kms from home and in the middle of arsenic hour my wife packed three kids into the car in peak hour traffic to come and pick me up.  I love those guys.

    Even not knowing you that well, I would have come and picked you up rather than see you go through the cost of dragging the wife and kids out. You'll pay for that forever!

    That's what you get for riding on wheels with a stupid spoke pattern anyway. ;)
