While many on the east coast (ie. Coffs and Noosa) are enjoying some warm kms, I was rugging up for a very cool and as it turn out, wet ride on Saturday. I nearly had some faithful companions, but the pull of Beach Road was too strong. I however went solo to Yarra Glen, Healsville, Toolangi, Kinglake and back to Eltham. This allowed me to climb my favourity bit of bitumen - Myers Creek Road. This is a lovely 10km of quiet back road with 500m of ascent. This landed me on Mt St

Leonard. I had light rain from Research and for the next 4 hours it didn't stop. Kinglake was cold. How cold I am not exact. It felt like 6 degrees or less. Plus I was wet. The decent down Kinglake was very cold. My feet were like blocks of ice until the post ride shower. I was really encouraged with my time splits and am on track in terms of speed - as fast as end of summer last season (4hrs 32mins). Still have time to work on my endurance (113kms for this one). Climbing on the Alloy TCR was good but not as comfortable overall as the Carbon TCR. See garmin for ride profile.

Nice one mate... that's where you get that 5% you'll need at the end!
ReplyDeleteWhen I am hitting Devils Elbow doing up Mt Buffalo I will need every bit of that 5%. Cheers.
