Fathers Day-what a gift

Still enjoying the warm afterglow of a Fathers Day to remember.  No drama, no expensive gift (iPad next year maybe).  But so deeply contented with the unconditional love of my kids.  With three kids, under 7 and the youngest being 12 months old, it was Fathers Day last year we where haggling with hospital staff to bring her home.  But not such drama this year.  Just a hot breakfast, a morning at church and then blobbing on the floor together, laughing, crying and laughing again watching Ice Age 3.  To lavish time on your kids is a gift.  Father's Day is really a celebration of them.  Thank God that 90% of being a good father is just turning up!

  1. Interesting comment 'Thank God that 90% of being a good father is just turning up!'
And society wonders why so many dads fail?
** TIP: don't get a job that requires you to travel!

  2. Steve Biddulph actually puts himself out there in is book "Raising Boys" and says that if you as a Dad are working including travel 10hrs or more a day you just are not going to cut is as a parent. Whow! that is a big call and one that I agree with in principle. Very challening for our urban, daul income, high cost of living culture.
